Detailed official 2026 rates

Prices are set by the Ministry of Culture and applied uniformly at the physical ticket office and online advance booking. The €2 advance booking fee is optional: it only applies if you book in advance.

Is advance booking worth it? The €2 fee stings. But from April to October the ticket queue can reach 30–40 minutes during peaks. Two euros to avoid a quarter-hour in the sun — I say yes.

Combination tickets and passes

Combination: Caracalla + Cecilia Metella + Villa dei Quintili

An integrated ticket covering three Appian Way sites. Costs €10–14 full and €2 reduced. Valid 7 days from first issue. For travellers with 2–3 days in Rome seeking an archaeological itinerary away from mass tourism, it's the best choice overall.

Roma Pass 48 hours — €32

Includes: free admission to the first museum or site visited (Baths of Caracalla qualifies), discounts on others, unlimited public transport for 48 hours. Worth it if you plan to see Colosseum + Baths + another paying site.

Roma Pass 72 hours — €52

Includes the first two sites free, discounts on others, 72 hours of transport. Only worthwhile if you have a packed schedule and plan more than three museums.

Omnia Vatican & Rome Card

A private tourist pass including the Vatican, hop-on hop-off bus and Baths of Caracalla among partner sites. Costs €110–135 depending on duration: makes sense only for very intensive three-day visits.

Third-party city passes

Go City, Turbopass and others offer the Baths of Caracalla in their packages. Always verify the attraction is actually included in your specific package, not just in their marketing.

When you get in free

Practical strategy. Combine the first Sunday of the month with a visit to the Colosseum at opening and Cecilia Metella in the afternoon: three sites, zero base ticket cost. The downside is queues: arriving at opening is essential.

Special reductions and categories

Families

There's no dedicated "family" rate, but consider: with two adults and two children under 18, you pay only €16 total. That's €4 per person, one of Rome's best deals.

University students

€2 reduction for EU citizens aged 18–25, regardless of student status. Non-EU pay full price. International student cards (ISIC) don't entitle additional discounts.

Over 65s and elderly

No special reduction. Full adult rate applies.

Military and police

Free admission while on duty. In uniform or with service ID.

Wheelchair users

Free admission for the person with a disability + 1 companion.

Rate history: how the price has changed

For context: the full Baths of Caracalla ticket went from €6 (2015) to €8 (2018), a price that's remained stable. Over the years, the combination ticket scope has expanded — first including the Tomb of Cecilia Metella, then Villa dei Quintili. The Ministry's logic is clear: keep the single rate low, reward integrated itineraries. Good news for visitors.
